A BIT OF HISTORY
Badian is
a third income class municipality in
the province of Cebu Province, Philippines. According to the 2010 census,
it has a population of 37,699. In the 2013 election, it had
23,762 registered voters. Badian is 98 kilometres (61 mi) southwest of
Cebu City. It is bounded to the north by Moalboal, to the south by Alegria, to the east by Dalaguete and Argao, and to the west by the Tañon Strait.
Badian comprises
29 barangays. The main barangay of Badian is Poblacion,
located in the center of the town. It is the only urban and the most populous
barangay of Badian. Its population is 4002 at the 2010 census, up from 3854 in 2007.
How to get to Badian
Badian can be reached by public buses
or V-Hires (vans) from the Cebu South Terminal in Cebu City with an estimated
travel time of about 3 hours. But during our travel, we ride a bus at Librando
which cost Php120 as regular fare but since we are students we are given almost
20% discount so we only paid Php93. When we arrive in the poblacion of badian
we ride the what they called “habal-habal” for Php20 going to our classmate’s
house where we are going to stay. As what
we have knew this southern town got its name from a
plant called, "badyang", which was once abundant in the area.
However, the Spaniards found it difficult to pronounce the name so eventually
the "g" was dropped and the "y" was changed to "i"
and the town came to be known as Badian, a generally mountainous and hilly area
where locals and tourists go around in jeepneys and tricycles. But now its
source of transportation is more on “habal-habal” or motorcycle. We only saw
few jeepneys along the highway.

Considered as the most popular destination in Badian, Kawasan
Falls is a three-tiered waterfall system that is located in Barangay Matutinao.
You would have to walk for 15-30 minutes from the national road to get to the

welcomed with misty, clean, and crystal-clear waters! To get to the main source
of the waterfalls and be awed by how cool it flows from one stone to another,
walk uphill until you reach a small cave. The walk to the second level of the
falls may also range from 10-15 minutes, but then again, you'll forget about
all the body pains that you might feel from the walking because of the place's
natural beauty.
How to go to Kawasan Falls:
1. From Cebu Airport, ride
a cab and go to Cebu South Bus Terminal. It would cost you around 200 pesos and
it would take you abut 40 minutes to reach the terminal.
2. Ride a bus that will
pass Badian. Just ask the conductor if they will pass Badian and ask him to
drop you off at Matutinao Church.
3. From the church, you
will have to walk uphill and it’s about 1.5 kilometers away from the highway.
It would take you 15-30 minutes to reach the first waterfalls. There will be
locals that will ask you if you want them guide you but you can do it on your
own by just following the clear path (that’s what we did). You can also asks
locals for directions if you’re not sure. If you want to go the second and
third falls, it’s recommended to get a guide for your safety and protection.

Optional:
- 300 pesos for the tables with
umbrellas
- 500 pesos for the cottages with
tables
- 300 pesos for the wooden raft that
can accommodate 15 people

here. Locals that manipulate the wooden raft will also ask for tip. They will
oblige you to give them a tip.

From the famous Kawasan Falls in Badian and the
horde Moalboal Beach, where to add up on the list
of must visit beautiful beaches in Cebu South is the
unspoiled Lambug beach. Truly incontestable! A wonderful place to
get along with – in a long stretch white sand powdery beach and swimming in an
uncrowded resort. It is good to stay there any type of the day even if the
weather’s temperament turns to gloom.
This place is considered as one of the hidden beaches in the
southern part of Cebu – Lambug Beach in Badian, Cebu. It has a long
coastline of white dust like sand, clear waters and which you could also
experience catching up both the sunrise and sunset. The place is still under
develop so you can’t see any high-end resort in the area, but it has many
rentable cottages or kioks and room’s to rent along the shoreline. But so far
the only resort that stands out there is the grandest Grandeur Beach Resort.
Going to Lambug now a days isn’t costly enough hence the place is still
undeveloped. There are room accommodations available at minimum cost. Good
advantage for younger ones to swim since it has a narrow shoreline. You could
also save up much if you can bring tent while it is good to
stay along the beach shoreline listening to the wind blows and the calmness of
the sea. But during our visit, that night was a bit noisy by certain group of
people in a loud videoke sound at the neighboring site. Well, we couldn’t blame
others doing since this place is a public beach and people there were just all
having fun.
Group of young generations were having outdoor activities like playing
volleyball at the beach. In any way, Lambug is really a place
for fun in great numbers of people from all walks of life. Most fun can be
observed like team building, thesis, birthday parties, family outing and beach
